Knowing Allah from the Quran

He is Allah God of the Heavens and the Earth.

S6:73 And it is He who created the heavens and earth in truth. And the day He says, “Be,” and it is, His word is the truth. And to Him is the dominion on the Day the Horn is blown. He is Knower of the unseen and the witnessed; and He is the Wise, the Acquainted.

S51:56 And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.

S20:14 Indeed, I am Allah. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.

S2:186 When My servants ask thee concerning Me, I am indeed close to them: I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calls on Me: Let them also, with a will, listen to My call, and believe in Me: That they may walk in the right way.

S6:155 And this is a Book which We have revealed as a blessing: so, follow it and be righteous, that ye may receive mercy.

Allah is an Unseen God.

S2:2-3 That is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah. Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them.

S7:143 When Moses came to the place appointed by Us, and his Lord addressed him, He said: “O my Lord! show Thyself to me, that I may look upon thee.” Allah said: “By no means canst thou see Me; But look upon the mount; if it abide in its place, then shalt thou see Me.” When his Lord manifested His glory on the Mount, He made it as dust. And Moses fell down in a swoon. When he recovered he said: “Glory be to Thee! to Thee I turn in repentance, and I am the foremost to believe.”

S50:33 “Who feared (Allah) Most Gracious Unseen, and brought a heart turned in devotion to Him.

S67:12 As for those who fear their Lord unseen, for them is Forgiveness and a great Reward.

From the various verses of the Quran listed below one can identify Allah as being unique from the many different conceptions of God promulgated by various religious entities and who make competing claims as to God’s characteristics, aims, and actions. With these verses one can know and understand Allah in better perspective in order to guide their souls to the right path in this world and for salvation in the next world with His permission.

Allah is not unjust

S3:108 These are the Signs of Allah: We rehearse them to thee in Truth: And Allah means no injustice to any of His creatures.

Allah teaches justice

S4:58 Allah doth command you to render back your trusts to those to whom they are due; And when ye judge between man and man, that ye judge with justice: Verily how excellent is the teaching which He give you! For Allah is He Who hear and see all things.

He forgive again and again

S4:99 For these there is hope that Allah will forgive: For Allah doth blot out (sins) and forgive again and again.

He feed but is not fed

S6:14 Say: “Shall I take for my protector any other than Allah, the Maker of the heavens and the earth? And He it is that feed but is not fed.” Say: “Nay! But I am commanded to be the first of those who bow to Allah (in Islam), and be not thou of the company of those who join gods with Allah.”

He is the best of Judges

S6:57 Say: “For me, I (work) on a clear sign from my Lord, but ye reject Him. What ye would see hastened, is not in my power. The command rests with none but Allah: He declares the truth, and He is the best of judges.”

His grasp is over all vision

S6:103 No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp is over all vision: He is above all comprehension, yet is acquainted with all things.

He is Omnipresence

S7:7 And verily, We shall recount their whole story with knowledge, for We were never absent (at any time or place).

Allah is free of all wants

S14:8 And Moses said: “If ye show ingratitude, ye and all on earth together, yet is Allah free of all wants, worthy of all praise.

He prevails over all things

S18:45 Set forth to them the similitude of the life of this world: It is like the rain which we send down from the skies: the earth’s vegetation absorbs it, but soon it becomes dry stubble, which the winds do scatter: it is (only) Allah who prevails over all things.

Allah never err or forget

S20:52 He replied: “The knowledge of that is with my Lord, duly recorded: my Lord never errs, nor forgets.

Allah cannot be questioned

S21:23 He cannot be questioned for His acts, but they will be questioned (for theirs).

He protects but need not be protected

S23:88-89 Say: “Who is it in whose hands is the governance of all things, who protects  but is not protected (of any)? (Say) if ye know.” They will say, “(It belongs) to Allah.” Say: “Then how are ye deluded?”

He lives and dies not

S25:58 And put thy trust in Him Who lives and dies not; and celebrate his praise; and enough is He to be acquainted with the faults of His servants.

Everything will perish except His presence

S28:88 And call not, besides Allah, on another god. There is no god but He. Everything (that exists) will perish except His “own Face”. To Him belongs the Command and to Him will ye (all) be brought back.

We are the ones who need Him

S35:15 O ye men! It is ye that have need of Allah: but Allah is the One Free of all wants, worthy of all praise.

Allah is pleased with the grateful

S39:7 If ye reject (Allah), Truly Allah hath no need of you; but He like not ingratitude from His servants: if ye are grateful, He is pleased with you. No bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another. In the end, to your Lord is your Return, when He will tell you the truth of all that ye did (in this life). for He know well all that is in (men’s) hearts.

There is nothing like unto Him

S42:11 The Creator of the heavens and the earth: He has made for you pairs from among yourselves, and pairs among cattle: by this means does He multiply you: there is nothing whatever like unto Him, and He is the One that hears and sees all things.

Allah knows your very soul

S50:16 It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein.

Allah is the creator of firmaments and space

S51:47 With power and skill did We construct the Firmament: for it is We Who create the vastness of space.

He grants laughter and tears;

S53:43 And that He it is Who makes (men) laugh and makes them weep.

He is the first and the last

S57:3 He is the First and the Last, the Evident and the Immanent: and He has full knowledge of all things.

Allah is a watcher over you

S57:4 He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in Six Days, and is moreover firmly established on the Throne (of Authority). He knows what enters within the earth and what comes forth out of it, what comes down from heaven and what mounts up to it. And He is with you wherever ye may be. And Allah sees well all that ye do.

Allah create life and death

S67:2 He Who created Death and Life, that He may try which of you is best in deed: and He is the Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving.

S14:52 This Qur’an is notification for the people that they may be warned thereby and that they may know that He is but one God and that those of understanding will be reminded.
