S7:54 is it six or eight days of creation?

S7:54 Your Guardian-Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and is firmly established on the throne (of authority): He draw the night as a veil over the day, each seeking the other in rapid succession: He created the sun, the moon, and the stars, (all) governed by laws under His command. Is it not His to create and to govern? Blessed be Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds!

In the above S7:54 it is stated that Allah created the heaven and the earth in six days. So also in these verses –

S10:3 Verily your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and the earth in six days……

S11:7 He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days….

S25:59 He Who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between, in six days…

All of those verses clearly state that God created “the heavens and the earth” in six days. But there is criticism the detailed description of the creation procedure appeared to adds up to eight instead of six days.

S41:9-12 Say: Is it that ye deny Him Who created the earth in two Days? And do ye join equals with Him? He is the Lord of the Worlds. He set on the (earth), mountains standing firm, high above it, and bestowed blessings on the earth, and measure therein all things to give them nourishment in due proportion, in four Days, in accordance with the needs of those who seek sustenance. Moreover He comprehended in His design the sky, and it had been as smoke: He said to it and to the earth: “Come ye together, willingly or unwillingly.” They said: “We do come (together), in willing obedience.” So, He completed them as seven firmaments in two days and He assigned to each heaven its duty and command. And We adorned the lower heaven with lights, and provided it with guard. Such is the Decree of (Him) the Exalted in Might, Full of Knowledge.

It is claimed that if one adds the total number of days mentioned in S41:9-12 it will adds to eight instead of six.

Those who read and counted it to be eight days are double counting in the creation of the earth instead of two days they added again another two days to make it four days.

It is clearly stated Allah created the earth in two days. Then He mentioned again He created the earth and the mountains in four days.

At this point it is a miscalculation for those who says Allah had created the earth in four days and the mountains in two days making it a total of six days.

The verse clearly mentioned He created the earth in two days not four days and that which makes it four days is the earth which has been already mentioned He created two days and the mountains another two days which makes it four days.

The count will become be six days by those who erroneously added another two days in the creation of the earth.

The real reading should be with the creation of earth in two days and the mountains another two days plus in the creation of the heavens another two days that make it a total of six days in the S41:9-12.

The three separate parts the earth, the mountains and the heavens which were created for two days each is confirmed in another verse as stated –

S33:72 We did indeed offer the trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains; but they refused to undertake it, being afraid thereof: but man undertook it; He was indeed unjust and foolish.

Six days creation is the consistance with other verses of the Qur’an as stated –

Thus, the earth with the mountain and all in between it form two parts taking two days each respectively and the heavens as another part taking two days with it so the total is six days.

S50:38 We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in six days, nor did any sense of weariness touch Us.
