S2:256 Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.
FIGHT ONLY THOSE WHO FIGHT YOU –
S2:190 Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors.
S60:8 Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes – from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.
THERE IS NO PUNISHMENT FOR HAVING DIFFERENT BELIEFS IN THE QURAN –
Humans have no right to punish others for having different beliefs as it is not a crime in the teaching of the Quran. It is only a sin against Allah and only He has the prerogative to punish the sinners.
S4:137-138 Indeed, those who have believed then disbelieved, then believed, then disbelieved, and then increased in disbelief never will Allah forgive them, nor will He guide them to a way. Give tidings to the hypocrites that there is for them a painful punishment.
S10:108 Say, “O mankind, the truth has come to you from your Lord, so whoever is guided is only guided for the benefit of his soul, and whoever goes astray only goes astray against it. And I am not over you a manager.”
FIGHT THEM WHENEVER THEY FORCED YOU TO BELIEVE AS THEY BELIEVED –
S4:89 They wish you would disbelieve as they disbelieved so you would be alike. So do not take from among them allies until they emigrate for the cause of Allah. But if they turn away, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them and take not from among them any ally or helper
THE RATIONALITY OF WAR AND CONFLICT IN THE QURAN:
S22:39-40 Permission to fight has been given to those who are being fought, because they were wronged. And indeed, Allah is competent to give them victory.
They are those who have been evicted from their homes without right only because they say, “Our Lord is Allah.” And were it not that Allah checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of Allah is much mentioned. And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.
S26:227 Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take!
S42:39 And those who, when tyranny strikes them, they defend themselves.
PUNISHMENT FOR AGGRESSION
S5:33 The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter.
S8:38 Say to those who have disbelieved that if they cease, what has previously occurred will be forgiven for them. But if they return to hostility then the precedent of the former [rebellious] peoples has already taken place.
S8:61 And if they incline to peace, then incline to it also and rely upon Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Knowing.
